During Wednesday morning’s edition of Kyle Sandilands Live, a conversation about the future of radio and how the industry has evolved prompted newsreader Mary Madigan to ask Sandilands whether he still dreamed of owning a radio station.

“Do you still have dreams of buying a radio station?” Madigan asked.
“Yes, I still have intentions of buying a radio network. In fact, I’m dealing with that this week,” Sandilands responded.
Sandilands also suggested that potential acquisition opportunities may exist beyond networks publicly advertised as being for sale, indicating that some stations may be available through private discussions.
The comments add to speculation about Sandilands’ ambitions to become a radio network owner, although he did not identify which network he may be looking to acquire or provide further details about the discussions.
Sandilands has also reiterated his plans to turn Kyle Sandilands Live into a radio station, with other presenters expected to fill the schedule after his program finishes at 10am.
The proposed format could see the brand expand beyond Sandilands’ own program, potentially creating a broader station built around additional presenters and content.
However, it remains unclear whether the acquisition discussions will lead to a deal, and no purchase or agreement has been confirmed publicly.
Biz Audio will continue to follow developments.
