What’s Next for Jackie O?

Could Jackie O Henderson return to breakfast radio solo, step away from radio altogether or even, reunite with Kyle?

For more than two decades, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has been one of the most recognisable voices in Sydney, and Australian radio.

But after the sudden, and unexpected end of The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this year, the future of one of Australian radio’s biggest stars is fairly cloudy. So, what comes next for Jackie O? There are a few very different possibilities.

A solo breakfast show?

The most obvious option would be Jackie O returning to breakfast radio, but this time without Kyle.

Jackie has spent the majority of her career as part of a duo, first with ‘Ugly Phil’, her first Husband, and then with Kyle. A solo Jackie O breakfast program would be a major change.

Her interviews, celebrity relationships and ability to drive conversation have always been an important part of the show's appeal.

And there is now an interesting question hanging over Sydney radio: could Jackie O carry a breakfast show entirely on her own?

It is worth noting that ARN reportedly offered Henderson a $2 million afternoon show deal during the fallout with Kyle, which she rejected.

That suggests that if Jackie does return to commercial radio, the role, and the circumstances would need to be right.

Could she be finished with radio?

The other possibility is much simpler, Jackie O could decide that she's had enough.

After more than 25 years in radio, she has already achieved what very few Australian broadcasters ever do.

She has hosted the country's biggest breakfast programs, expanded into Melbourne, built a substantial profile outside radio and become a major media personality.

The events of 2026 have also put radio under a very different spotlight for Jackie.

Her legal dispute with ARN is ongoing, with the case scheduled to go to trial in October. Henderson alleges that her workplace experience involving Kyle caused significant harm, while ARN disputes her claims.

That legal battle makes any immediate return to a major commercial breakfast program difficult to predict.

And perhaps Jackie simply decides that she doesn't need radio anymore.

There is a world outside the breakfast studio, television, podcasting, business, social media and other media opportunities could all be alternative paths.

And then there's Kyle...

The most unlikely, but arguably most fascinating (and my favourite), possibility is a reunion.

For years, Kyle and Jackie were inseparable in Australian radio.

From their early days together at SCA, to their move to KIIS, the pair became one of the country's most commercially successful radio partnerships.

But their relationship dramatically deteriorated in 2026.

Jackie said she could no longer work with Kyle, while the subsequent legal proceedings have seen serious allegations made about their working relationship. Kyle has strongly disputed aspects of those allegations.

RadioInfo reported in March that there was "no prospect of a reunion" following the collapse of the show.

Kyle has since launched Kyle Sandilands Live, while several former members of the KIIS team have moved across to his new operation.

Could Jackie ever return? Right now, there is nothing publicly confirming that this could be happening, and the ongoing legal dispute makes it an especially difficult scenario to imagine.

But if the two were ever able to resolve their differences privately, the audience interest in a reunion would be enormous.

The question isn't necessarily whether audiences would be interested. It's whether the two could ever want to work together again.

So, what's next?

For now, there are more questions than answers. A solo breakfast show would give Jackie the opportunity to establish herself independently of the partnership that defined much of her career.

Leaving radio altogether would mark the end of an extraordinary chapter. And a reunion with Kyle currently remains the most complicated possibility of all.

After more than two decades alongside Kyle Sandilands, her next move could ultimately redefine how Australian audiences remember Jackie O, not as one half of Kyle and Jackie O, but as Jackie O on her own terms.

For one of Australian radio's biggest names, the next chapter could be her most interesting one yet.
